Natural astaxanthin has been part of the human diet for thousands of years. It is a red-coloured pigment - a carotenoid - found in plants, algae, bacteria and other organisms, where it produces bright yellow, orange and red colours. In the unicellular microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis, from which our dietary supplement is made by special technology, it occurs in an esterified form that is more stable than the free form of astaxanthin. Astaxanthin has a number of beneficial effects. For fish such as salmon, it provides a source of energy for the hundred-mile upstream run and increases their endurance. Currently, its possible antioxidant effects are the most studied. Unfortunately, despite a number of studies, it has no official health claims to publish here.

The algae for the AstaPure® supplement is grown in a closed tubular system protected from harmful influences and obtained using Super Critical Co2 technology. This ensures a high active ingredient content, an extremely pure product and consistently reliable year-round production.
