Pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) is found in soil and foods such as kiwifruit, and also in human breast milk. It is otherwise known as methoxatin. It is a relatively newly discovered vitamin-like compound and falls under the category of nootropics - dietary supplements or drugs that have a beneficial effect on brain function.

A 2018 article in the journal The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences referred to pyrroloquinoline quinone as a "longevity vitamin" that is not necessary for immediate survival, but is necessary for long-term health.

PQQ could be even more effective when taken with CoQ10, as the two act synergistically.
